Disciplines - Experience

Experience design is about usability, usefulness, adaptability, reliability and desirability. It is about all these things and more, but when designing any major IT project the Experience Architect is the advocate for the user, balancing the needs of the business with the user's needs and the technological requirements.

"Easy is hard"
Peter lewis, NY Times

Good design is problem solving and in Experience design the problem is often how to create an engaging experience for a variety of different users. Good usability is very important for a website but usability alone does not make a website that users will love or an experience which is engaging enough to encourage users to both complete their transaction and return.

User experience is about usability, usefulness, adaptability, reliability, and desirability. The success of an interface or process, and the business behind it are dependent upon these concepts.
